Conservative Re-Thinking?

Once in a while Bill Kristol writes a good, coherent column. His latest one in NYT is one such. He is pointing out how American Conservatism and GOP should not be beholden to ‘market theology’. He was also right in pointing out bit of irrelevance of euphoric mood with GOP Governors. In the same gathering which Kristol talks about, these GOP Governors showed amply evidence of their inability to think out of the box. Their solution to GOP’s political problem – return to Reganism!

Man these GOP folks do not change. May be as Frank Rich wrote, they are on their way to historical decline if not changed. That will be tragic for America.

I am hopeful that the GOP 'retools' over these next four years, but keeping Palin out of the fray will be paramount to their longterm success...

Still, I am certainly excited about what an Obama presidency will bring to our beleaguered nation. He is very articulate to be sure, and seemingly has the intellect and composure to be successful in the highest office of the most powerful nation on earth. However, I am a little skeptical about his level of experience, alleged ties to unsavory organizations and religious affiliations. I voted for him, primarily because of bitterness at the incompetence of the Bush administration. I remain disenfranchised with America so far in the 21st Century, and came across a political graphic that does a fairly good job in capturing this sentiment.
